Frequently Asked Questions

What Is the difference between aluminum and steel?

The main distinction between aluminum and steel is the weight, which impacts the rotating mass. Our billet 6061 T-6 aluminum adapters have a tensile strength of 45,000 PSI, compared to 53,700 PSI for steel. However, our billet aluminum adapters are twice as thick as steel ones, resulting in nearly double the combined PSI strength. A 1.5" aluminum adapter weighs approximately 30 lbs, while a 1.5" steel adapter can weigh up to 70 lbs, adding unnecessary rotating mass. For reference, even heavy-duty vehicles like Big Rigs, which carry over 70,000 lbs, are equipped with aluminum wheels. While we offer both steel and aluminum adapters, choosing the right one depends on your comfort level and specific application needs.

Why Is the 1.5" thick adapter the standard size for aluminum?

A 1.5" thickness is the standard choice because thinner adapters would require either notching the wheel or using the reverse stud method, both of which can be complicated. A 1.5" thick adapter eliminates these challenges. With a 225 mm bolt pattern and a 220.1 mm hub bore, anything less than 1.25" thick won't provide the needed clearance.

What Is the maximum towing capacity?

Our adapters have been rigorously tested for towing capacities up to 36,000 lbs, specifically on a 2022 Ford F-450, which has a towing capacity of 37,000 lbs. The adapters performed flawlessly under the load, with no issues.

Can I purchase replacement studs?

Yes, we offer replacement studs in various lengths if you ever need to replace a damaged one.
